| Take part in this monthly walk sponsored by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy. Walk Leaders help you discover the history of this once-channel island, about the birds, wildlife, and plants that live in the canyons and undeveloped areas, and about the unique geology of this special Peninsula. This month's walk is along the trails around the old quarries of the Forrestal Reserve. The wildflowers will be out in force this year, and are worth a visit. Clean-up and restoration of this important wildlife area offers a hands-on opportunity to learn about invasive species removal, native planting, effective trash and debris removal, and much more, while earning community service credit. All ages, but folks under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Make the Park nicer on Saturday, then come back and enjoy the regular "Second Sunday" nature walk there the next day! Meet in the lot near the Anaheim St. entrance, just east of the intersection of Anaheim and Vermont. Wear closed toe shoes, hat and long pants. To get to the project site, drive along Palos Verdes Drive South until you get to Forrestal Drive, opposite Ocean Trails. Turn inland and go to the end of the street.
